Former U.S. president, Donald Trump, will launch a new social media called “TRUTH Social”. Earlier this year he was banned from twitter due to his influence in the storming of the capitol. It is this bann that fielded him into creating Truth. Trump claims that his new app will put up a fight with other big social media companies, such as Twitter and Facebook, who have both banned him from their platforms. The app is being created by a merger between Trump Media and Technology Group. TRUTH is set to fully launch at the beginning of 2022.
TRUTH plans to be more than just a social network app;in the future, it will be similar to a streaming service. It will also include things such as entertainment, podcasts, and news. This will be a paid subscription; the cost of such will be determined later on. TRUTH’s high ambition is to compete against the giants of Google and Amazon. Trump Media and Technology Group is now forming a merger between them and Digital World Acquisition Corp to make TRUTH’s future possible. Patrick Orlando, leader of Digital World Acquisition Corp, is set to give TRUTH 293 million dollars cash, trusting that no shareholder will sell their shares. A merger with Patrick Orlando attracts investors into the company because of how powerful and successful he has been in the private world and as a banker.
Trump claims that social media apps such as Twitter suppress the voice of whomever they choose. In a statement he said, “We live in a world where the Taliban has a huge presence on Twitter, yet your favorite American President has been silenced. This is unacceptable.” The former president aims to give everyone a voice, through his TRUTH platform. In reality, he seems to be more excited about fighting the social media giants.
