November is the time of the year for everyone to take a step back and reflect on the different factors in their life that have brought them impact and made them grateful. As part of the AST community, one of the things we should be the most thankful for is for our faculty and teachers. Without them, the American School of Tegucigalpa would not be what we know and many important lessons wouldn’t be taught to us on a daily basis.
Since it’s a month to be grateful, this is a great opportunity to directly give thanks to the people who help us learn in AST. Students of all ages at AST were asked to fill a survey mentioning all the things about teachers' actions that made them content with their work and everything they have done for them. Responses turned out to be heartwarming and really come to show how much students love their professors. So teachers, go get a snack and some hot cocoa while you read why AST students are grateful for you being in their lives.
High School students showed their appreciation in the following ways. There were many mentions of seniors appreciating teachers taking their time to check their supplements and essays. Others talked about many teachers being understanding in their mental health or work. Many students mentioned all the particular teachers in High School and how they have helped them understand what they wish to pursue in their futures like engineering, math, or art. Surely, no teacher was left behind and many students were mentioning how much they enjoyed getting to know the teacher and their learning environment. One particular student said, “Thank you for all your love and support!! Without you guys I wouldn't be where I am, and I will be forever grateful for all of the advice you have given me throughout the years.” High School students are grateful for teachers building our character and preparing us for what is to come.
Middle School students showed their gratitude to mentors at AST by showcasing all the different skills they learned through teachers. Many 6th graders wrote that teachers helped them settle in this new experience of their life. Others mentioned how they really appreciate how faculty still tried to make things special in learning, even with the condition throughout the pandemic. Many Middle School students commented on how they have felt that every teacher has taught them an important lesson while also being amazing at what they do. One particular student mentioned, “Thank you so much AST teachers! Thank you for doing the best you can during this pandemic! You have been incredible to say the least! <3” Middle school students want to thank you for your effort and unconditional support.
Elementary School students showed adorable responses thanking their educators for mentioning that all their teachers have been unforgettable. Many kids would comment on all the teachers they've had since nursery, mentioning how much they loved and appreciated them. Many kids talk about how their instructors always had patience with them while teaching very important things to them. Most Elementary students see AST faculty as their superheroes and as people, they can rely on. One particular student responded, “THANK YOU TEACHERS FOR YOUR HELP AND FOR YOUR SUPPORT!! WE APPRECIATE HOW MUCH YOU WORK. WE LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!!” Elementary Students will definitely never forget all those unique and special moments they have shared in the classroom.
In the end, as AST students, we just want to say how much we care about our professors. To show our gratitude and appreciation for all teachers, the National Honor Society will be hosting a contest full of activities for all educators to participate in and win amazing prizes. We all want to show how much we love and appreciate our professors and are happy to give something special to the faculty.
Thank you for taking the time to make a difference in each of our lives. We are proud and happy for you to be part of the AST family! Never stop giving us all those unforgettable lessons in all your unique ways.
